PURPOSE & POWER OF PRAYER & FASTING MINISTRY

What is fasting?

Fasting is abstaining from food and other activities you enjoy to focus on GOD. It is for a spiritual purpose and helps you draw near to GOD. There are many different reasons to fast, throughout the bible, people fasted for GOD to intervene in their life & nations.

As a believer, fasting is a lifestyle and is something that you must practice often for spiritual discipline and to grow spiritually. Fasting was a regular part of the life of GOD’S people in biblical days.

“But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:17-18

What is the purpose for fasting?

Fasting humbles you before GOD. It is one of the greatest ways to kill your flesh and allow GOD to purify you. GOD told us to humble ourselves,  to humble yourself is to fast and pray & seek the face of the Lord.

“But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.” psalm 35:13

Fasting also releases the power of GOD in a person's life to bring forth healing, deliverance, breakthrough, and much more. Certain things can only be done by fasting & prayer.

“However this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21

Another important reason for fasting is to find the will of and receive directions in your life.

“Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.” Ezra 8:21

When you humble yourself and seek GOD through fasting and prayer He will answer your prayers and show you His will & grant you direction and guidance.

Lastly, fasting and prayer ministry are important because fasting draws you near to GOD and creates capacity in your life for GOD to move. It allows you to walk in the power of GOD and operate in the supernatural. When you fast, you are dying to your flesh and allowing your spirit to come alive, when your spirit is alive the Holy Spirit moves upon your spirit and empowers you to fulfill the work of GOD.
